Uber Senior Product Manager, Eats Search in San Francisco, California

About the Role

Whether it's a sandwich, a burrito, or groceries, the Uber Eats team builds technology to connect people with what they want, when and where they want it. On our Product team, you will envision and execute on new products in order to accelerate the trajectory of Eats globally in a matter of months, not years.

As a Product Manager on the Uber Eats Search team, you will be at the center of delivering on our mission. Search is the channel for customers with intent to find what they're looking for. Ultimately your goal will be to ensure each time an Uber Eats consumer opens the app, they find exactly what they are looking for, with as few clicks and interactions as possible.

We have two primary search surfaces: restaurant/store search and in-store/item search. The team leverages sophisticated machine learning combined with human logic to determine what to show to customers and in what order. We also have designers and UX engineers to build amazing customer experiences to make it easier for customers to express their intent more quickly in mobile and web apps.

What the Candidate Will Do

This PM needs to be able to think from a customer and product principles perspective and tie that customer lens back to a deeply technical eng/development space. This PM will develop a product vision and lead an engineering team to deliver on that vision. They will identify the biggest customer problems on search, prioritize among them, and set objectives and a roadmap for the team. They will influence a team of engineers to ensure that the solutions identified (including solutions across ML, deterministic/human logic systems, and UX features) are grounded in solving specific customer problems.

You will define the strategy and vision for our Search team, convert that strategy to a roadmap, then deliver it. You'll oversee our end-to end search experience, and partner with teams across the experience to ensure the entire experience is personalized to each user's needs.

You won't be alone in your endeavors. Rather you'll work with seasoned experts in personalization, machine learning, and ranking across Engineering, Data Science, and Design. In partnership with your colleagues, you'll transform your strategy into a product that scales globally. This involves considering local customer needs, cultural nuance, and competitive environments to help our business grow and retain its loyal user base.

  • A Computer Science, Statistics, or Engineering undergraduate degree or equivalent, preferably including hands-on software development experience.

  • Ideally looking for someone with catalog experience extracting data, building personalization and recommendation experiences, and structured query/entity recognition understanding.

  • Stellar design instincts and product taste with an obsession for the customer and a clear track record of delivering elegant solutions for true user problems.

  • A high bar across the board for your own contributions, for the people you work with, and for the products you work on.

  • Data driven to the point where you go get the data you need with no muss/fuss and can whip it into an insightful story with no help.

  • Experience running experiments to assess the effectiveness of releases.
